Plane Crash in Pakistan Kills 152

Reports reveal Afghan war details

The Wikileaks website has uploaded more than 90,000 classified documents on the war in Afghanistan. The leaked documents suggest that the real number of civilian deaths in the country has been severely underreported. They also claim that Pakistan is secretly supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan and that a covert unit of US special forces is assigned to hunt down - capture or kill - senior Taliban leaders, without trial. Al Jazeera's Tarek Bazley reports.

Underground explosion hits Mexico garbage site

A massive explosion at a garbage dump outside the Mexican capital of Mexico City has left hundreds of homes damaged along with huge cracks in the ground. Officials say a build-up of methane gas under the garbage at the dump is to blame. As the local and state officials governments argue over who is to blame, the poor who live in the area struggle to rebuild. Al Jazeera's Franc Contreras reports.

US casualties on rise in Afghan war

On Saturday four US soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in Southern Afghanistan. The deaths bring to 396 the toll of foreign soldiers killed so far this year, compared to 520 for all of 2009. The icasualties.org website puts the number of soldiers to have died since the Afghan insurgency began in 2001 at 1,964, with 1,204 of them Americans. Al Jazeera's Clayton Swisher has been on patrol with US troops in the Arghandab river valley, used by the Taliban to stage attacks in neighbouring Kandahar. He reports on the perseverance of the 82nd Airborne Division soldiers.

Fugitive Taliban leader threatens Pakistan

A leader of the Pakistani Taliban who was thought to be dead has appeared in a video and he is threatening a new wave of suicide bombings. Fazlullah says the Taliban's withdrawal from the Swat valley last year was not a defeat but a tactical retreat. Fazlullah has been on the run since the Pakistani army's offensive in the country's northwest ended years of Taliban rule. And now he is asking suicide bombers to target the Pakistani military and nationalist forces in the country. Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports
